Assessment Strategies That Support Teaching and Learning
Do they remember it? Do they understand it? Can they demonstrate it? Can they explain it? Can they apply it? Can they solve it? Can they expand on it? Assessment is an art that serves the dual purpose of measuring both student performance and instructional effectiveness. In this workshop we will discuss how to design and leverage a framework of formative and summative assessment that offers students opportunities to demonstrate their learning while providing instructors with insights into how to offer responsive teaching. While covering a broad spectrum of assessment formats, tasks, and tools, we will explore their strengths and weaknesses as vehicles for providing individualized student feedback and overall learning mastery insights.
